![]() ![]() Second, if you need to re-print your PDF, the margins are going to be screwed up. So if you move your printout on Onenote page, your handwriting may end up in a wrong space. First, the handwriting and highlighting are attached to the page, not to the PDF. In that case, I might just stick to OneNote. OTOH working with PDFs in Onenote has a couple of drawbacks. OneNote is free so it only cost hard drive space to download OneNote while GoodNotes and notability cost like 8-10 dollars (got notability on a rare sale for 1.99) Lucky you The 1.99 offer was years ago. you can have an Excel spreadsheet attached to your note. One of the big advantages of Onenote is the ability to attach all kinds of files to notes. (It's perfectly possible to handwrite in Onenote, but Notability is better for this). If you own a Windows laptop and are typing rather than handwriting, take a look at Onenote. Notability's drawbacks are no support for landscape paper (so working with some PDFs or screenshots is more PITA than it should have been), no Windows client to edit notes. Notablility is great if you take lots of hand written notes on your iPad, want to record syncronized audio while doing it, want to be able to export your notes as text or as searchable PDFs, want to search in your notes (it has very decent handwriting search), have a Mac laptop or are OK with not being able to edit your notes on PC. Sorry if I rambled on too much, suffice to say it’s a fantastic app. I have the added bonus of being able to read my notes on my phone! At my course, this essentially means I had all the lecture handbooks (a massive compilation of slides given to us at the start of each semester), a stack of paper roughly 2-3 handspans tall in a single app. My favourite feature was that you can import pdfs, which is handy if your college makes your lecture notes/slides available to download before the lecture (if not, just ask the lecturers if you can get a pdf copy). My own touch stylus served me well for over 4 years. If you can’t afford the Pencil, a simple touch stylus that you’re comfortable writing with will do just fine. I will say, Notability shines best on an iPad with a stylus. Each update only brought improvements and new features I didn’t know I needed. I got the app when it was free (I know, lucky me XD), and after all these years using it I can say I’d gladly pay twice the current price for it. ![]()
